Jamaica in $270s-$320s RT

Looking at the peaceful waters of Port Royal today, you'd never guess that it once the "most wicked and sinful city in the world." A few centuries ago, pirates sailed here from all over the world just to engage in a little debauchery.

While you might remember Elizabeth's kindly father as the governor of Port Royal in the Pirates of the Caribbean, the reality is actually quite a bit weirder — at one point, Henry Morgan was running the place as Lt. Governor. Yes, that Captain Morgan.

And if "Vegas for pirates, run by the guy from the rum brand" wasn't already a helluva backstory, it gets even wilder. In 1692, an earthquake hit the island. The whole town sunk into the soft sandy ground, immediately dissolving into the stuff of legends. 

The old, sunken city is now a restricted research site, but that doesn't mean you can't still indulge in some wickedness — we hear that rum punch can get a little sinful :-)
