Here's how to ski, the Icelandic way
First off, get yourself over to Akureyri — lucky folks from London and Manchester can hop on a direct flight! Just a 10-minute drive from the city sits the best ski resort on the island, Hlíðarfjall.
With consistent high-quality snow and jaw-dropping views of Eyjafjörður fjord, you're probably expecting a sky-high price, but no! Day passes are £41, which is about what you'd expect from an average European resort. Plus, their magic carpet lift to the beginner slope is free, so you can practice your pizzas on the house.
Finally, after a long day tearing up the slopes, there's nothing quite like sinking into a bubbling bath of boiling beer to soothe your aching limbs. Yes, that's a real thing here :-)
Oh, and just in case you decide to fly into Reykjavík, you can always road trip it! You'll get to make heaps of cool pit stops along the way, like Jökulsárlón lake, pictured below with one of our Flight Finders.
