I visited El Peñol a few years back and can confidently say yes. But you know what's sweeter than the island dotted panorama? The ice cream pit stop you can make at the top!
Even if you don't fancy the trek up, saving some time for a day trip to Guatapé from Medellín is a must. Peruse the cobbled streets, snap some pics of the rainbow-painted homes, and feel the wind rush through your hair as you dart between islands on a speed boat.
But hey, if you do decide to brave the climb, at least you can look forward to an extra-reclining premium economy seat on your flight back home :-)
