Bogota, Colombia at $298 RT

I flew from JFK to Bogotá a few months ago, so here's everything you need to know to make the most of the Avianca experience:

•  If you're flying with a travel buddy, only of you needs to upgrade to Classic. That bundle includes seat selection, a carry-on and a checked bag, so you can split your stuff across the bags. And then you can select your own seats next to them for $40 RT.
• Avianca might be flying with a low-cost model, but these flights are mostly on wide-bodies. That means nicer seats and seat-back entertainment included.
• If you wanna hop around Colombia, book those flights separately. We flew Wingo from Bogotá to Medellín, and it was less than $20 one-way. You can get similar prices up to the Caribbean coast too.

And after all that, have at least one bowl of ajiaco to celebrate :-)
