Amsterdam is the kind of place where you never quite know what you'll find. To get the most out of this city, you'll need to peek down every hall and around every corner.

For example, everyone goes to the Rijksmuseum. But continue past the Goyas and through the lab, and you'll be greeted with every art nerd's dream: a multi-levelled, densely-packed library of rare art history archives, complete with spiral staircase and glass ceiling. 

And to think, most folks just leave after the gift shop!
