It’s a good old-fashioned price war!
United started this morning (read: around 4 am) by slashing prices on a bunch of domestic routes across the country in peak summer. So that's already a great deal!
But then it seems like every other airline heard that early morning rooster call and followed suit with their own drops. Delta? 
American? Southwest? JetBlue? Heck, even Alaska?
So now you guys get a choice of where you want to travel this summer, and super low prices to go along with it. We call that a win/win... /win/win/win :-)
