Murder, revenge and ghostly geothermal activity...intrigued?

In the spirit of Halloween, let's talk about the spooky local legend surrounding Gunnuhver hot spring, just an hour's drive southwest of Reykjavík. 

It's named after a woman who died there over 400 years ago from starvation after her landlord took away her cooking pot. Not long after, her spirit returned to take revenge by murdering her landlord, and terrorising the town.

To end the supernatural shenanigans, a priest threw Gunna's ghost into the bubbling hot mud pool, which allegedly worked. Although, even today, some visitors still claim to catch a glimpse of Gunna's spirit drifting through the hot spring mist.
