In case you missed the memo, Costa Rica is positively humming, squawking, roaring and chirping with life.

But with fan favourites like sloths and humpback whales stealing so much of the limelight, we thought we'd give some attention to a smaller critter...this tiny guy.

Despite his snazzy colours and extra squishy face, we wouldn't recommend getting too close, since his skin contains enough poison to take out 20,000 mice.

Fear not though, as you can still spot them safely with a guided jungle walk or by visiting a frog sanctuary :-)
