The Baltics in $470s-$570s RT
In honor of the Baltics' neato mythology, this deal includes a tale of two giants...
The first giant is "Big Christopher," Latvia's tallest Samaritan. According to the story, Big Chris once helped a small boy cross the raging waters of the Daugara River. Here comes the twistβthe kid turned out to be none other than Jesus Christ, and he rewarded the giant with a hoard of treasure for his kindness. Christopher later used the gold to build the city of Riga, where his statue still stands.
The second giant is fictional mobster Tony Soprano, who was honored with a 15-foot statue in Vilnius' main train station. We're not really sure why he's there (or why he's wearing a bathrobe and boxer shorts), but he sure is magnificent.
Not even Quasimodo could have predicted that one :-)
