November in Phuket means clearer skies, lush vegetation and our favourite local festival — Loy Krathong. Celebrated on the day of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, the festival of light is one of the most important and anticipated celebrations in the country.

Head where the locals celebrate, around Saphan Hin Park and Suan Luang Park, and you'll be able to buy some handmade krathongs from street stalls — be sure to buy some made from banana tree, banana leaves, and flowers.
